Chiefs Face Competition for Talented Spurs Star

At least three other Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs have joined Kaizer Chiefs in the race for Cape Town Spurs attacker, Asanele Velebayi.

Recently, sources reported that the Chiefs had “made inquiries” regarding Velebayi, who showed incredible promise on the pitch during the 2023/24 PSL season.

Now, Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou has confirmed that three more local outfits are interested in the 21-year-old, although he remained mum about their identities.

“There are a few teams that want him now,” Efstathiou told a local soccer outlet on Tuesday, 23 July. “I won’t say which clubs are interested, but there are three South African clubs that have approached us for him.”

Nevertheless, as far as Spurs is concerned, Velebayi remains an integral part of their team for the time being.

“I don’t wanna put a time frame on when a move might happen, but at the moment, he is training with the team as we prepare for next season. Yes, he might leave us, but … we are continuing planning with the squad we have.”
